Earlier this week, news began to spread that Jose Baez, the trial attorney who rose to fame through his representation of acquitted murderess Casey Anthony, may have acted very unethically throughout the entirety of their attorney-client relationship.
In an affidavit filed last month in connection with Anthony’s Chapter 7 bankruptcy case, Dominic Casey, a private investigator who was hired by Baez to work with the defense team during Anthony’s murder trial, alleged that not only had Baez told him that Anthony had murdered her daughter, but that Baez had worked out a deal with Anthony to trade sex for legal services. The private investigator recalled one night in 2008 when he watched Baez cancel a TV interview on Anthony’s schedule after the mom said she didn’t want to go through with it.
“He called the network, saying they would have to take a raincheck, hung up the phone and said to Casey: ‘You now owe me three [blow] jobs,’” Casey said.

For his part, Baez has threatened to sue over Casey’s statements, issuing a categorical denial in a written statement given to PEOPLE: “I unequivocally and categorically deny exchanging sex for my legal services with Ms. Anthony. I further unequivocally and categorically deny having any sexual relationship with Ms. Anthony whatsoever. I have always conducted my practice consistent with the high ethical standards required of members of the Florida Bar. My representation of Ms. Anthony was no exception.”
