Everyone on the West Coast today seems to be really excited about giving money to their associates hand over fist, because we’ve got an update from one of the most genteel California firms around. We’ve just been told that Munger Tolles & Olson, home to many former Supreme Court clerks and current Ninth Circuit judges, has raised associate salaries to match the new Cravath scale.
Tipsters tell us that the salary match was announced today at a firm lunch, and the news was met with cheers of joy and applause. A memo with the details of the match is forthcoming, but we’re told that it’s an exact Cravath match. As soon as we receive the firm’s internal pay-raise memorandum, we will post it here for readers to see.
