Arrest Made In Fatal Shooting Of In-House Attorney

Police have not yet established a motive in this brutal slaying.

police crime tapeOn Monday morning, Trinh Huynh, 40, was fatally shot during her morning commute. Huynh worked as an in-house attorney for the United Parcel Service, and she was a beloved member of her community. Police investigating her case believed that she had been specifically targeted by her assailant, but no one knew why, as she had no enemies to speak of. A surveillance video of the suspect was released to the public, and by that very afternoon, an arrest had been made.

Raylon Browning, Huynh’s suspected killer, was originally wanted by police for allegedly attacking two of his former coworkers with a knife. The detective on that case recognized Browning from the surveillance video released following Huynh’s murder. At the time Browning was arrested, he was still wearing the same shorts and sneakers seen in the surveillance footage released earlier, which can be found below.

According to Deputy Chief Darryl Tolleson of the Atlanta Police Department, while Browning did have a criminal record, he hadn’t committed any “really violent” crimes in the past. Browning missed his first court appearance due to a self-mutilation incident that occurred while he was in a padded cell. 11 Alive has additional details:

An incident report from the Fulton County Jail shows that a guard found Raylon Browning biting his arm and spitting blood out of his mouth Tuesday night.

The report indicates a second guard dressed in a yellow hazmat suit wrestled Browning, 39, to the ground. When Browning refused to stop resisting, he was stunned one time then allowed guards to handcuff him.

Browning was expected in court this morning for his first appearance. Police have still not established a motive for Huynh’s killing; in fact, it is unknown whether Huynh and Browning even knew each other. We will continue to follow this story, and will relay new details to readers as they become available.
