In-House Attorney Shot To Death During Morning Commute

Police believe this may have been a targeted killing.

police crime tapeThis week brings us disturbing news out of Georgia. In what police believe may have been a targeted killing, an in-house attorney in Atlanta was shot in the back during her morning commute.

According to police, Trinh Huynh, 40, was fatally shot on Monday morning while she was crossing the street, presumably while headed to the train to get to work. She was carrying her lunch bag, gym bag, and purse at the time of her death.

Huynh was a graduate of Princeton University and Emory School of Law. Huynh began her career as an associate in the government contracts and construction practice group at Powell Goldstein (now a part of Bryan Cave), and later lateraled to Alston & Bird, where she was a senior associate. She then left Biglaw to open her own firm, serving at the same time as a project attorney with Counsel on Call. Last summer, Huynh was hired as an in-house corporate attorney for the legal department at UPS.

The Daily Report obtained a statement from UPS following Huynh’s tragic killing:

UPS was saddened to hear of the death of one of our corporate attorneys, Trinh Huynh, who joined the company last summer. We will cooperate with the Atlanta Police Department through its investigation.

Huynh’s killing was captured on surveillance footage, and police say that they believe she was “specifically targeted” by the gunman. It is unknown if there are any leads, but police encourage anyone who recognizes the man in the footage below to call 911 or contact the Atlanta Police Department as soon as possible at (404) 546-4236.
