‘Why? Why?! Whyyyyyyyyy???!!!’
If you recall, back in the darkest days of the recession, we covered the topic of rescinded offers quite frequently. Now that things are looking brighter for the legal profession, it’s a rare occurrence.
But not today. That brings us to today’s Biglaw blind item.
Legal Is Changing. And NeoSummit Is Where The Future Is Being Built.
Legal and operational leaders are gathering May 6–7 in Fort Lauderdale to confront the questions the industry hasn't answered—with a keynote from Amanda Knox setting the tone.
Word on the street is that an international firm has decided to rescind offers of full-time employment for almost all of its incoming associates. The firm that’s left would-be associates in the lurch has sustained a slew of partner departures in its corporate ranks in recent weeks. While the Silver Circle firm said it expected to expand its offerings on the East Coast following those departures, we’re now hearing that external recruiters have been calling other Am Law 100 firms to ask if they’d be interested in hiring fall associates as offers have been withdrawn for almost all of the offending firm’s incoming first-years.
Which firm would dare to pull offers so late in the game?
We might do more about this — and even reveal the name of the firm in question — if we can obtain additional details and corroboration. If you have solid and specific information, please feel free to email us or text us (646-820-8477). As regular readers know, we keep our sources anonymous. Thank you for any info you might be able to share on this firm that’s screwing young associates.
