Should Law Schools Ban Military Recruiters In Light Of The Transgender Ban?

This law school is considering taking a stand.

President Trump’s ban on transgender people joining the military is of grave concern. The Vermont Law School administration will take a hard look at the details of the policy to determine if our discrimination policy will allow military recruiters on the VLS campus.

— Maryellen Apelquist, spokesperson for Vermont Law School, told the Washington Blade they are considering banning military recruiters from their campus in light of President Trump’s ban on transgender people from the armed services. Vermont Law School was one of two law schools (the other being William Mitchell College of Law which has since merged with Hamline University School of Law) that forfeited federal funds under the Solomon Amendment to ban military recruiters when the discriminatory “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy governed the armed forces.
