Yesterday, Jeff Sessions appeared at Georgetown Law to take pre-screened questions before a hand-selected audience of (mostly, but not all) loyal conservatives. The school even did its part by disinviting people who signed up for the event following the very rules laid out by the school. That he chose to use this forum to deliver a chilling statement about his plan to use the awesome power of the Department of Justice to “enforce” free speech just added that extra sprinkle of ironic beauty.
His defenders argue that Georgetown can’t accommodate everyone all the time and sometimes they have to disinvite people for space concerns. Well… here’s a tipster’s picture from the event:

Yeah, so much for that excuse. When you consider the healthy number of journalists who showed up, these empty seats are even more egregious. Georgetown had more than enough room to let its students attend a policy announcement from a sitting federal official. It wouldn’t because Jeff Sessions and Professor Randy Barnett (the Georgetown Law professor and noted conservative that organize the event) wanted this event to be the perfect little safe space for a fragile ego.
This seems like a good time to remind everyone that Sessions is still prosecuting a woman for laughing at him. So maybe we should’ve expected this.
