In late January of 2015, Lauren Myers, then a second-year student at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, was in need of a date for law prom (i.e., Barrister’s Ball). Instead of asking a classmate to go with her, she decided to ask a celebrity to be her date.
That celebrity was Steven Adams of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Meyers tried to score her date with the basketball center via this creatively Photoshopped tweet:

Meyers got much than more than 1,000 retweets, but she never heard from Adams, and wasn’t able to attend law prom with the seven-foot-tall date of her dreams. But that’s not where this story ends for this once dateless Oklahoma Law student.
Adams was apparently too busy hustling on the court to be courted by a law student, but yesterday, more than three years after he was asked, Adams finally said yes to attending law prom with Meyers, accepting the invitation via tweet:

Meyers, who graduated from law school in 2016 and is now an attorney at a small firm in Tulsa, had the best response possible: she suggested that they could have a “lawyer prom” instead. Here’s a pointer (or a three-pointer) for Adams: this time, respond to Meyers in a more timely fashion — or at least hook her up with some game tickets.
