Last week NY attorney Aaron Schlossberg stormed into our hearts as the avatar for everything we hope the profession isn’t, a professional homo sacer, if you will, shunned and exiled from the confines of civil society while simultaneously papering over the injustices and professional violence other lawyers commit daily — but through the proper channels. Have we unwittingly enabled those who practice discrimination quietly to hijack underserved moral ground by redrawing the borders of polite society to exclude him not for his beliefs, but for the audacity of his expression of those thoughts?
