For me, it was reassuring when Barbara [Underwood] was announced as the acting AG — I knew that people would continue to think of all of us in a positive light because of the work we do and not because of this one blip. All of a sudden it felt like, we know our course because she’s already our leader and she has such gravitas in the legal community.

— Lourdes Rosado, leader of New York’s civil rights bureau, in an interview with Cosmo, expressing support for the acting Attorney General Barbara Underwood who was sworn into the position last week after Eric Schneiderman stepped down amid allegations he physically abused women. Underwood, the first woman to hold the NY AG position, is uniquely qualified to continue the important work of the office. The former Thurgood Marshall clerk served most recently as New York’s solicitor general, and was previously acting solicitor general of the United States and has argued 20 cases before the Supreme Court.
