Bar Exam Stopped Due To Constant Ceiling Leaks, Wet Test-Takers

What happens when a bar exam fact pattern on negligence happens during the bar exam itself?

We had to make sure that the test continued to have the integrity it needed, and it took about 40 minutes to accomplish that. During that time, all 746 people were instructed to stop working, and they could get up at stretch. The bar is pretty fairly stressful anyway, but most people were grateful they could finish the exam rather than having to take it again.

— Jessica Yates, attorney regulation counsel for the Colorado Supreme Court, commenting on the ceiling leaks that stopped the clock due to an emergency facility issue during the state’s bar exam on Tuesday. The exam was held in Denver Merchandise Mart’s expo building, and it was later determined that an overflow from an air conditioning condensation pan caused the problem. Some test-takers got wet, and others observed “unstable” ceiling tiles due to the water problems. The essay portion of the exam ended about 40 minutes late due to the leaks.
