Orrin Hatch Makes Snide Law School Comment To Protester Who Interrupted Kavanaugh Confirmation Hearing

The senator got more and more annoyed as protesters continued to interrupt his opening statements.

Mr. Chairman, I think we ought to have this loudmouth removed. We shouldn’t have to put up with this kind of stuff. I hope she’s not a law student.

— Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), in comments made after a protester interrupted his opening statements during Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing earlier today. As the protester was escorted out while explaining that she’d lose her insurance due to her pre-existing condition and die without healthcare, the audience laughed uncomfortably in the wake of Hatch’s comments. Additional protesters interrupted Hatch shortly thereafter, and they continued to interrupt others all morning.
