No, Simpson Thacher Didn't Forget About Associate Bonuses This Thanksgiving

Wonder no more about the Simpson bonuses!

While you were busy trying to engineer an escape from Biglaw on Wednesday in order to garner some semblance of a happy holiday, the powers-that-be at some Biglaw firms were busy finalizing associate bonus structures to make for an even more thankful celebration. Of course, in the case of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, there wasn’t too much to discuss since they just copied the bonus schedule that Cravath set out earlier this week (which itself was a dupe of last year’s — and the year’s before that — scale).

But, in any event, here is the associate bonus structure Simpson announced before everyone left to enjoy their Thanksgiving:

While it may not seem exciting that the bonuses are a redux of those in recent years, you have to remember this year associates at the top Biglaw shops also saw raises. And that’s in addition to the mid-year bonuses the good folks at Simpson ushered in, so the fact that year-end bonuses still match those of previous years is actually a good thing. As one tipster noted:

Happy they didn’t go down given that we got a summer bonus as well!

(The full memo from the firm is on the next page.)
