Working mothers certainly don’t have it easy in the old boys’ club that’s known as the legal profession, a fact that’s been made more well known thanks to the recent influx of gender-bias and pregnancy-discrimination lawsuits that have been filed against some of the largest law firms in the country. In the small-firm and solo-practice arenas, however, lawyer mothers have been welcomed with open arms, allowing for meaningful success to be achieved by some of the most determined women in the game.

In partnership with MothersEsquire, an organization that seeks to achieve gender equality in the legal profession, Above the Law has been running a series on motherhood in the law, and we’ve compiled some of their best efforts — from advice on how to power through after having children to work-life balance solutions to planning for maternity leave as a solo practitioner — into an inspiring eBook.
