Is Kim Kardashian Taking The Baby Bar Exam Today?

If not, there's always the October exam, but the passage rates for apprentices are pretty scary.

Back in April, Kim Kardashian West told the world that she studying to become a lawyer without going to law school. In a tell-all interview with Vogue, Kardashian revealed that she was in the first year of a four-year apprenticeship, and that she hoped to take the California baby bar (aka the First-Year Law Students’ Examination) “sometime this summer.”

At the time, Kardashian announced that she was doing fairly well with her studies:

“First year of law school,” Kim says, “you have to cover three subjects: criminal law, torts, and contracts. To me, torts is the most confusing, contracts the most boring, and crim law I can do in my sleep. Took my first test, I got a 100. Super easy for me. The reading is what really gets me. It’s so time-consuming. The concepts I grasp in two seconds.”

Let’s hope that Kardashian was really able to grasp all of the concepts in two seconds, because the baby bar exam is being administered today. Applicants using laptops needed to be seated to take the exam no later than 7:20 a.m. to complete the test.

If Kardashian is, in fact, taking the baby bar today, she wasn’t exactly nervous like most of her peers taking the precursor to the real bar exam. Instead of trying to cram last minute legal rules into her head, she was busy announcing a new product line.

Students must pass the baby bar within three administrations of the test after they first become eligible upon their completion of the first year of “law school” to receive full credit for their studies. According to the State Bar of California, out of the 17 candidates who took the baby bar exam during their apprenticeships last June, the overall passage rate was just 35.3 percent. The passage rate for this past October’s baby bar exam was similarly lackluster, with an overall passage rate of just 27.8 percent for legal apprentices. These passage rates are pretty scary.

If Kim Kardashian really did sit for the California baby bar exam today, then we wish her the best of luck. The odds may be against her, but even the president thinks she’ll be “one of the most successful lawyers.” Cross your fingers for Kim!
