Katie Porter (CA-D), a professor at UC Irvine Law, who got into a debate with Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin during a House Financial Services Committee hearing, after questioning his desire move hundreds of billions of dollars in COVID-19 relief from the Federal Reserve back into the Treasury’s general fund when under the CARES Act, any such remaining funds may be moved to the Treasury only “on or after Jan. 1, 2026.”)
