Under First Woman To Serve As Chair In 130+ Years, Top Biglaw Firm Diversifies Its Leadership

Times are changing, and so is the firm.

Our clients expect us to be leaders in diversity and inclusion and make sure these values are reflected not only in their matters but in all levels of the firm generally. I will always focus on amplifying all voices of our lawyers, spanning geography and practice groups. I think diversity is a cultural differentiator for us and want to capitalize on past successes and be a leader in this space.

Barbara Becker, the first woman to serve as chair of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, commenting on the firm’s recent diversification of office and practice group leadership under her watch. With Becker, the firm’s former diversity chair, at the helm, more than half of office leaders are diverse and more than three-quarters of practice groups have at least one diverse leader.
