The firm that got the associate compensation party started has re-entered the building.
That’s right, Milbank — the first firm to raise associate salaries — is at it again. If you’ll recall, earlier this month, Milbank set the salary grid at $200,000 for first-year associates but was quickly outdone by Davis Polk, who went with a slightly higher scale ($202,500 for class of 2021, $205,000 for class of 2020). As expected, Milbank has matched the more generous salaries — well, technically went slightly higher (class of 2021 sees an extra $2,500 at Milbank).
The new and improved salaries are for associates in the U.S., London, Asia, and Sao Paulo and are effective July 1.
