In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups. The police who investigate crime and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories.

It’s been more than a decade since television was last graced with the original Law & Order’s famous “dun dun” (outside of reruns and episodes from other spinoffs, like SVU, of course). But now, NBC, the very network that killed the show, is reincarnating it for its 21st season, for a whole new audience.

For those who can’t wait for the return of one of the best shows on TV, Deadline has some additional details. Check it out:

There is no cast set but the new season is expected to feature beloved characters from the original series, with Sam Waterson’s Jack McCoy believed to be at the top of the wish list. The producers from Universal Television and Wolf Entertainment are expected to reach out to former cast member shortly about coming back. …

No premiere date for the new season has been set, and it’s unclear whether the show will be ready for midseason. The series, produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment, would presumably be slotted alongside SVU and Organized Crime for a Law & Order Thursday lineup….

In comments given to the Associated Press, series creator Dick Wold said, “There are few things in life that are dreams come true. This is mine.”

If you were inspired to become a member of the legal profession after watching this show in its heyday, get ready for a new generation to follow in your footsteps.
