Thomas Renz, in comments given to the Washington Post, explaining why he is handling litigation challenging mask and vaccine mandates related to COVID-19. Renz was admitted to the Ohio bar in 2019, and wasn’t as well-known prior to taking up these controverial causes. He and co-counsel withdrew a pandemic-rated case in Ohio federal court after a judge called the complaint as “well-nigh incomprehensible,” and referred to the amended complaint as “an impenetrable thicket of often conclusory and speculative assertions, allegations, contentions, innuendo, and legal arguments and citations.” Renz says he’s only been paid about $250,000 for the litigation thus far, and has created a nonprofit group to raise money for further litigation efforts.
