As we have said many times, but probably cannot say enough, the hard work and commitment of associates is absolutely critical to the success of this Firm and our clients, probably more so than elsewhere given the responsibilities that you are asked to shoulder. In a very successful 2021 for the Firm, associates have played leading roles in numerous trials, appellate arguments, arbitrations, mediations, and all of the other types of work the Firm handles.
We are therefore pleased to announce the following new base salary scale for all U.S. associates in good standing:

| 2021 | $215,000 |
| 2020 | $225,000 |
| 2019 | $250,000 |
| 2018 | $285,000 |
| 2017 | $325,000 |
| 2016 | $350,000 |
| 2015 | $370,000 |
| 2014+ | $385,000 |
This salary scale is effective as of January 1, 2022. Because we have already begun processing January payroll, the new pay scale will be reflected beginning with associates’ February payroll, when you will also receive a catch-up payment for January.
For associates (in good standing) who have elected to remain on formula compensation, your monthly formula compensation advance will be adjusted in accordance with this scale, as well. Relatedly, many associates who moved to the market system the last few years have asked whether they may switch back to formula compensation. The Firm will honor any such request, effective to January 1, 2022, so long as it is made before February 18, 2022. If you are considering making that election, please contact your office administrative partner or one of the MPs.
