Thanks to the pandemic and the introduction of the LSAT-Flex (now simply known again as the LSAT) — what was once a shorter law school admissions exam that applicants were able to take from the comfort of their homes — the test scores for this fall’s incoming law students were much, much higher than in years past. But just how high are we talking here? The results were truly “eye-popping.”

According to the Short List blog of U.S. News & World Report, the median LSAT score for full-time students entering in fall 2021 was an average of 158 at the 192 law schools that are ranked by the magazine. Twelve of the schools near the tippy top of the list, however, had an average median LSAT score of 172.

Which schools made the list? Take a look.

  • Columbia: 174
  • Harvard: 174
  • Yale: 174
  • NYU: 172
  • Stanford: 172
  • UChicago: 172
  • Cornell: 171
  • Georgetown: 171
  • Northwestern: 171
  • UMichigan: 171
  • Penn: 171
  • UVA: 171

It’s not exactly shocking that the best law schools in the country have the best LSAT scores, but what is shocking are the law schools whose graduates have the most debt (and some of them are on this list). Stay tuned for our discussion of those doomed to debt sometime next week.

How did your law school measure up against these schools?
