Are You Treating Your Law Firm Like A Real Business?

Profitsolv's Joyce Brafford shares some foundational practices for law firm technology management.

digital-8560051_1280If Grandma Moses can start painting (and become highly successful, by the way) at the ripe old age of 78, there’s no reason you can’t revise your law firm technology at any point in the life of your law firm or era of your career.

Now, of course, if you’re just starting a law firm: best to do it right the first time, eh?

So when we set out to publish a podcast about the foundational best practices you need to run a modern, efficient law firm, it ended up that we included something for just about everyone.

We brought Joyce Brafford of ProfitSolv onto the Non-Eventcast — she’s got the most guest appearances of all, you know — to talk everything over.  In this episode, Joyce and I are rolling solo, because we don’t need to bring on another guest to have some fun.

We discussed the sorts of characteristics law firms should be looking at when selecting software (9:53), including the kinds of questions they should be asking of vendors (11:57).

We then covered the staggering lack of attention law firms pay to financial management, which can be remedied via the transparency that financial softwares render, including through generation of helpful reports and access to prominent dashboards (17:54) — and yes, that’s even true for trust account management (18:54).

Next, we discussed which other baseline software product types law firms should consider, including customer relationship management (CRM) tools (20:45).

We also addressed how marketing software can help law firms to leverage an effective online presence (23:16), which should include a content marketing component (25:45), and Joyce covered how ProfitSolv product ClearView Social can help law firms to manage social media posting from a single dashboard (32:20).

Last but not least, we discussed the importance of treating your law firm like a real business (33:15).

If you need to get back to basics and are open to reconsidering everything — boy, do we have the podcast for you!

This is the second episode in a monthly series that we will be releasing each month of this year with our partner, ProfitSolv.
