A friend of Reema Bajaj provided us with warm words about Bajaj, as well as allegations about how she wound up working as a prostitute:
Reema is a very bright girl with a good heart, who has made some bad decisions. I hate to see her getting destroyed over this. I don’t know about the incidents upon which the charges are based, but I do know Reema has been taking money for sex acts since she was 19.
Reema was always very careful about protecting her identity and keeping things discreet. (She never used her real name, and I didn’t know it until recently.) She maintained very firm control over her “client relationships.” She started out advertising on AFF [Adult Friend Finder] as a nude model, and got more involved in sex-for-cash as time went on. I expect there are at least several guys who have photos of her, which they took with her camera during “modeling sessions.”
I’m no psychologist, but I think this was always more of a fantasy-fulfillment thing (or at least it started that way), and then she probably started liking the money. BTW, the $50 and $100 prices for her services [as alleged by the prosecution] are not correct. Let’s just say they were more in line with typical metro market rates.
On the issue of prices, the claim that she charged more than $50 to $100 per act is consistent with what we’ve previously heard from other sources. And I’m not surprised; given her attractiveness, a rate of $50 to $100 seems low.

On the claim of the “fantasy-fulfillment thing,” it seems that it might be rooted partially in self-esteem issues, according to this friend of Bajaj:
Early in my time of knowing her, she told me that she had lost a lot of weight and was feeling really good about her self-image for the first time. I suspect she was a nerdy, fat girl in high school, and decided to play out some fantasies once she made the ugly-duckling-to-beautiful-swan transition.
The breast augmentation surgery happened around the beginning of January 2009 or end of December 2008. I thought she looked better before.
