Subject: Atlanta Office
As some of you may have read, a legal blog recently included a post about the closing of our Atlanta office. This is not how we would have chosen to notify you, and more importantly it is not reflective of the manner in which we have had continuing discussions with our firm members in Atlanta. A link to the blog is https://abovethelaw.com/2015/04/nationwide-layoff-watch-biglaw-firm-will-shutter-atlanta-office-while-opening-new-offices-elsewhere/

The partners in Atlanta as well as firm management recognized the changes which have occurred in the legal market, and have been discussing options for some time. Several months ago, the Atlanta partners met with firm management to discuss directly the prospect of closing the office. We approached the issue together as partners and friends, and they in turn continued the discussion with all firm members in Atlanta. While a definite timetable has not yet been set, we anticipate closing the office at the end of this year or early next year, and will of course advise everyone.
We value greatly the work done by our Atlanta firm members both within our firm and the legal community generally. More importantly we value our friendships and relationships with those with whom we’ve worked over the years, all of which will continue.
