As the names of those who were killed in the Las Vegas mass shooting continue to be released, it is with a heavy heart that we must report an attorney lost her life.

Jennifer T. Irvine, 42, was a graduate of the California Western School of Law, and was admitted to the state bar in 2005. She opened her own firm in 2011, where she practiced criminal law and family law. Irvine had recently appeared as a guest on LawNewz Network to provide analysis in the Adrian Loya murder trial.

Like many of those who were tragically killed this weekend, Irvine was having fun at the Route 91 Harvest Festival when she was shot. The San Diego Union-Tribune has additional details on her death and some fond remembrances courtesy of her friends:

Kyle Kraska, sports director for CBS News 8, wrote on Facebook that Irvine was a dear friend who brought joy to others and was enjoying the country music concert when she was killed.

“She was holding hands with her girlfriends singing and dancing to country music when she was shot in the head,” he wrote.

Attorney Tom Slattery wrote on Facebook that Irvine was a “good friend, colleague and business partner” who was killed by “a madman” at the festival.

“A tragic loss of a kind, generous, and beautiful lady. She will be greatly missed,” he said.

We here at Above the Law would like to extend our condolences to Jennifer Irvine’s family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.
