‘I forgot to bring my pencils…’
Tomorrow marks the first day of February bar exam season. Would-be lawyers across the country will sit for the most important test of their professional lives. Some will have taken the test before, and some will be taking it for the first time, but either way, they’re all praying that they pass.
Passing the bar exam takes a lot of hard work, and if and when things go wrong during the test, most people will overcome the adversity and still pass. But those who end up failing the bar exam will likely remember these unfortunate events for the rest of their lives.

Please try not to worry too much, and have faith in yourselves and your abilities. Worrying will only make things worse (trust me). Think of it this way: you’ve already avoided the biggest bar exam mishap on record (courtesy of ExamSoft), so that’s a plus. You probably won’t go into labor mid-exam, so that’s an even bigger plus. You hopefully won’t be experiencing such extreme intestinal distress that proctors have to put your desk in the bathroom, and that’s the biggest plus of all. You’ve got this!
What kinds of crazy things will happen during the February 2018 administration of the bar exam? If you survive or witness some horror story in action, please let us know. You can email it to us (subject line: “Bar Exam Horror Story”) or text us (646-820-8477). Maybe your story will inspire others to persevere in the future.
We wish you the very best of luck on the bar exam this week.
