A New York lawyer is on the run after allegedly shooting and killing his child’s mother inside their shared home.

James R. Ray III, a 2008 graduate of the University of New Hampshire School of Law, has been charged with murder and weapons offenses, and is currently wanted by police in New Jersey. NJ.com has additional details on the crime:

James R. Ray III, 55, allegedly shot Angela M. Bledsoe, 44, in a home on the 300 block of North Mountain Avenue on Monday, according to a statement issued by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police received a call requesting a wellness check at the house shortly before midnight and found Beldsoe suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene early Tuesday.

Ray is no stranger to the pages of Above the Law. In 2013, he was sued by a recent law school graduate who worked as a paralegal at his firm and claimed that for the two months she worked there, Ray subjected her to “egregious, despicable, embarrassing, open, and obvious sexual harassment.” She alleged that Ray constantly regaled her with stories of his love for polygamy, and even went so far as to request that she become his “third wife.” That suit was later settled out of court.

Authorities say Ray is to be considered armed and dangerous. He may be driving a black BMW 328i with New Jersey license plate ZNX68M. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office at 1-877-847-7432.
