Welcome to the latest in the 2021 Biglaw salary wars! As a brief recap, Milbank got the ball rolling yesterday by pushing first-year associate salaries to $200,000 — and every associate will get a raise of between $10,000-$15,000, depending on class year. What followed was a few firms — McDermott, Cadwalader, and Mintz — matching (though not the firms that are historically known as early compensation leaders). And we expect more matches, once the requisite partner meetings can be called, of course.
Well, we’ve got another match. Fenwick announced they too will be matching the new salary grid Milbank unveiled. As a reminder, the new salary scale is as follows:

Legal Is Changing. And NeoSummit Is Where The Future Is Being Built.
Legal and operational leaders are gathering May 6–7 in Fort Lauderdale to confront the questions the industry hasn't answered—with a keynote from Amanda Knox setting the tone.
So, who will be the next Biglaw firm to make a move? Well, we need the Above the Law network of anonymous tipsters to come through.
We depend on your tips to stay on top of this stuff. So when your firm matches, please text us (646-820-8477) or email us (subject line: “[Firm Name] Matches Milbank”). Please include the memo if available. You can take a photo of the memo and send it via text or email if you don’t want to forward the original PDF or Word file.
And if you’d like to sign up for ATL’s Bonus Alerts (which is the alert list we’ll also use for salary announcements), please scroll down and enter your email address in the box below this post. If you previously signed up for the bonus alerts, you don’t need to do anything. You’ll receive an email notification within minutes of each bonus announcement that we publish.
