In the early days of this year’s bonus season, way back in November, one firm matched the Cravath scale straight out of the gate, prompting a few other firms to follow in its footsteps. That firm was Cleary Gottlieb, one of the usual suspects for an early match each bonus season.
If you thought that the firm would leave its associates high and dry when it came to matching Davis Polk’s special bonuses, you’d be wrong. Earlier this week, on December 7, the firm came through for associates with extra bonus cash, and we hear they were quite excited.
