Top 50 Biglaw Firm Offers Market Bonuses, Depending On Office

Bonuses at this firm are out, and they're right on track.

money salary Sharing treasure, Big hand giving a big bag of money with dollar sign to a businessmanBiglaw bonus season is moving pretty quickly, with one firm after the next matching the prevailing market rate as a way to hold onto their best and brightest attorneys in this hot lateral market.

Perkins Coie — a firm that brought in $1,001,498,000 gross revenue in 2020, placing it at No. 42 in the most recent Am Law 100 ranking — is the latest firm to dole out bonuses to its associates. Bonuses at the firm are majority lockstep, and for most associates, it seems as if Perkins Coie is following where the market leads (depending on office).

Associates received a memo detailing special bonuses as well as salaries and year-end bonuses, depending on office location. All bonus-eligible attorneys in all offices (typically those who have billed 1950 hours or more) will receive a special bonus.

Perkins Coie Special 2021

Salary increases and year-end bonuses are a little tricky. If you’re an associate in a major office, your salary and bonus will likely be within (or perhaps even above) market range. If you’re in less of a major market office, that’s where things take a turn — for senior associates.

Perkins Coie Bonus 2021

We haven’t seen a salary and bonus table for Perkins Coie’s other offices. But sheesh… of all the times to offer high and low salary and bonus differentials, a talent war is not it. At least this isn’t happening in the firm’s major market offices, that we know of.
