Elite Firm Raises Salaries While Throwing Shade At Other Biglaw Firms

This boutique firm can outshine Biglaw any day of the week.

hundreds money bonusesIt looks like boutique firms are back in action when it comes to matching the now-prevailing Davis Polk salary scale — and one of them is getting a little sassy about it.

Selendy Gay Elsberg — formerly known as Selendy & Gay — is known for its market-beating bonuses, and the firm wants its associates to know that it’s heavily committed to remaining elite. Here’s an excerpt from the memo the firm sent out yesterday:

“While other, larger firms continue to jostle for a competitive edge with one another, we remain confident in our continued financial success and commitment to compensating our associates at the very top of the market.”

Oooh, some Selendy shade. Watch out, Biglaw, this firm is coming for you.

Here’s what the new salary scale will look at the firm, retroactive to January 1:

Class Salary
2021 $215,000
2020 $225,000
2019 $250,000
2018 $293,500
2017 $335,000
2016 $360,500
2015 $381,000
2014 $396,500

Associates will see the new cash comp in their March 15 paychecks. Congratulations!
