Why Is Aileen Cannon Taking So Long With The Trump Trial? 'Incompetence' And 'Perceived Bias'

Donald Trump should be facing his second trial before the 2024 election.

Donald Trump has been indicted in four different criminal cases, but, to date, only one has gone to trial. The Supreme Court and an office affair are to blame in two of the cases (the federal January 6th case and the Georgia election case), but what of the presidential documents case? Well, the delay in that case rests entirely on the shoulders of Judge Aileen Cannon.

The Trump-appointee has paid back her benefactor by indefinitely delaying the trial. And her recent paltry attempt to act like an actual judge are less than impressive.

Biglaw partner/White House attorney Ty Cobb — and his signature mustache —  is a cable news circuit regular, and he’s back with a folksy way of cutting through the right-wing BS. Indeed, Cobb told CNN’s Erin Burnett that Cannon should have resolved these issues a while ago.

“I don’t think this case will move at all,” Cobb said in an interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett. “And I think the fact that she’s scheduling hearings, multiple hearings, sort of one or two motions at a time, is compelling evidence of that. Most federal judges would have long ago ruled on all the pending motions.”

And he has a theory why she’s taken so long:

“And frankly, this is a case that should’ve started trial yesterday or two days ago when the original trial date was set,” he continued. “This case could have easily gotten to trial. Only her incompetence and perceived bias has prevented that.”
