Last year, amid the 2018 associate salary wars, Simpson Thacher & Barlett introduced special summer bonuses in a bid not to be outdone by the competition. Sources tell us that Miller Barondess, a Los Angeles litigation boutique, announced summer bonuses on Friday. So, just how big of bonuses are we talking about? We’re hearing that everyone received $15,000, regardless of class year. Congratulations!
Is your firm thinking about awarding summer bonuses to associates this year? Please let us know. We’re hearing rumors that Simpson Thacher is considering doling out summer cash again this year, and that firm paid up to $25,000 in bonus bucks.
Remember: If and when your firm’s bonus memo comes out, please email it to us (subject line: “[Firm Name] Bonus”). We always keep our sources on bonus stories anonymous. There’s no need to send the memo using your firm email account; your personal email account is fine. Please be sure to include the memo as proof; we like to post complete bonus memos as a service to our readers. You can take a photo of the memo and attach as a picture if you are worried about metadata in a PDF or Word file. You can also text us if you prefer, at 646-820-8477.
