We want it to be fully reflective of what the law school population is, so there’s more work to be done. But I think we have reached the point now—and I think you are seeing the fruits of that effort over a 20- or 25-year period—in terms of now seeing more women in our partnership classes year in and year out. We’re talent driven. We want to bring in the best people.

Faiza Saeed, the first woman to serve as presiding partner of Cravath, commenting on the progress the white-shoe firm has made when it comes to promoting women and ensuring that diversity is present among its associate and partnership ranks. In November 2018, Cravath announced an all-women partnership class.
