ROPES & GRAY — MEMO — SPECIAL BONUSES
In appreciation of your extraordinary efforts during an extremely busy start to 2021, as well as your continued dedication to providing best in the world service to our clients, we are pleased to announce that the firm will be paying you a special bonus in two installments this year.
The bonuses for counsel and partnership track associates in the U.S. and Asia will be paid as illustrated below, in accordance with the standards set for special bonuses in 2020. Counsel and partnership track associates in London will receive special bonuses, adjusted to reflect London’s separate compensation scale. U.S. and Asia career associates will receive special bonuses in amounts to be announced separately.
The respective bonus installments will be paid by direct deposit on April 30th and in late December. Counsel and associates must be employed by the firm, in good standing, on each date in order to be eligible for that bonus payment. Regular year-end bonuses will be determined and distributed at the customary time.
While we hope this bonus helps convey the message of how much we appreciate your hard work and dedication to our special institution, we want to remind you of an important message that was conveyed by Dr. Brennan Jacoby at the community resiliency program we held on February 25th. In his presentation on A Resilient Mindset: How to Reflect, Reframe and Restore, Dr. Jacoby reminded us that “When busyness, pressure and demands are increasing, calls for self-care can seem well-intentioned and important but unrealistic. However, it is in those moments when we least think we can accommodate it that we most need to refresh our perspective.”
We ask that you continue to recognize the need to keep your minds and bodies healthy and that you take the time to recharge whenever possible.
