One by one, the Biglaw dominos on special bonuses continue to fall. Ever since Davis Polk pulled their trademark move of coming in over the top, it’s become patently obvious that other firms should get in on the bonus matching game. In case it isn’t clear yet, the latest firm offer special bonuses to associates is a leading intellectual property firm.
This afternoon, Fish & Richardson announced to associates that they’d be showering them with extra cash. This is great news, considering the firm skipped out on the first round of COVID appreciation bonuses. These is what the bonuses look like at the firm (full memo available on the next page):

The new generation of AI-related legal issues are inherently cross-disciplinary, implicating corporate law, intellectual property, data privacy, employment, corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
Associates will receive payments in April and in October, and will receive more details on eligibility at a meeting to be held next week. At this point, all we know is that it will be awarded to associates in good standing, and that the money comes in addition to regular year-end bonuses. Congratulations to everyone at Fish!
