Weil Associates Were Waiting, This Firm Raised Salaries

Another top law firm bites the salary bullet.

cash money currency one hundred dollar billsTick tock… associates at firms across the country are growing impatient with firms that have yet to announce raises. The wait is over at Weil Gotshal, which let loose its salary news earlier this afternoon, much to associates’ delight. Weil took home $1,657,603,000 gross revenue in 2020, placing it at No. 17 in the most recent Am Law 100 ranking, so there was certainly enough wealth to share to make the firm look appealing for laterals in this market.

Here’s what salaries will look like at Weil going forward:

  • 2021: $202,500
  • 2020: $205,000
  • 2019: $215,000
  • 2018: $240,000
  • 2017: $275,000
  • 2016: $305,000
  • 2015: $330,000
  • 2014: $350,000

It’s also worth noting that the firm will be increasing salaries for all of its three-year counsel promoted since 2020 by $25,000. (Three-year counsel are those eligible for partnership within three years; if they don’t make partner within that time frame, they’ll be transitioned out of the firm.) All other counsel adjustments will be made on a case-by-case basis.

Congratulations to everyone at Weil!
