Experts Say The Future Of Law School Is Looking Bleak

What can be done to save legal education in America?

We’re in a perilous moment. There is a push-pull between admission offices and the job market. [Increasing law school enrollment] would be the wrong thing to do.

James Leipold, executive director of the National Association for Law Placement, in comments made during the Summit on the Future of Legal Education and Entry to the Profession. The law school applicant pool may be growing, Leipold pointed out, but the the number of jobs for new lawyers continues to decrease, and the only reason why graduate employment statistics have improved is due to the fact that fewer students have graduated in recent years.
