Congressman Jokes About Sexual Assault Using Ruth Bader Ginsburg As His Punchline

The only funny thing about it was the politician's lack of class.

Not the real RBG, and not a funny joke.

Did y’all hear this latest late-breaking news from the Kavanaugh hearings? Ruth Bader Ginsburg came out [saying] that she was groped by Abraham Lincoln.

— Representative Ralph Norman (R-SC), making light of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh by telling an off-color joke about Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, during a debate with his opponent for his Congressional district. When Norman’s remarks were met with anger, he tweeted that “[p]eople really need to lighten up,” since the joke was “meant to add a bit of levity to a very serious debate” and “point to the circus-like atmosphere that Washington, D.C., has become.”
